Richard B. Warnecke, PhD

Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology, Public Administration and Sociology

Dr. Warnecke has been actively involved as a researcher in cancer control for more than 40 years. He has a long-standing relationship with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), as both a principal investigator and a grant reviewer. He received one of the first Cancer Control Science Program Grants ever awarded by NCI, which was among the first grants of IHRP, in its early days as the Prevention Research Center back in 1986. He is recognized as an IHRP Fellow.

He also led the scientific teams that were among the first recipients of the five-year Center for Population Health and Health Disparities grants award by the NCI in 2003. He was one of three original investigators whose center grant was renewed for a second five-year period in 2010. He has published two books and more than 90 articles concerned with cancer control topics.
