Garth H. Rauscher, PhD

Associate Professor of Epidemiology

Dr. Rauscher is an associate professor of epidemiology at the UIC School of Public Health and an IHRP Fellow. His primary research focuses on social and biological determinants of racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in cancer with a focus on breast and colon cancer progression and prognosis. He is principal investigator or co-investigator on several research studies funded by the National Cancer Institute, the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Dr. Rauscher received his BS in physics from SUNY at Albany, his MPH in epidemiology from Yale University, and his PhD in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Research Interests

Determinants of racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in breast cancer progression and prognosis, with a focus on health care system factors; limitations of estimating cancer screening behavior from survey self-reports; epidemiologic methods.
