Pre-analysis plans have become an increasingly common feature of studies in numerous disciplines. By setting out in advance of data collection exactly the analyses that will be conducted and with which variables, a pre-analysis plan may help to minimize various threats to statistical conclusion validity (e.g., p-hacking) and discourage selective reporting of outcomes.
