Visiting Research Specialist Position

The Institute for Health Research & Policy (IHRP) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Visiting Research Specialist to coordinate, supervise and perform the day-to-day research activities of a NIH-funded research program to promote the health and well-being of older adults and their caregivers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, implement, and monitor community-based interventions;
  • Capture, manage, and analyze data;
  • Integrate research activities with researchers, study participants, interviewers, and community partners;
  • Document research process; prepare reports;
  • Recruit and retain research study participants;
  • Manage IRB requirements;
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Principal Investigator. 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree preferred) in public health or related discipline (e.g. kinesiology, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sociology, psychology, social work);
  • Three years of experience working on research programs, ideally with vulnerable populations or people who are aging with disabilities, and/or in a clinical setting. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational, research, and writing skills;
  • Previous project and staff management experience as well as working knowledge of REDCap and statistical packages such as STATA preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Some evening and weekend availability may be necessary.
