In 2010, Dr. Edward McAuley was the Shahid and Ann Carlson Khan Professor in Applied Health Sciences with appointments in the Departments of Psychology, Kinesiology and Community Health, and Internal Medicine, as well as in the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at UIUC. He is a fellow in the Gerontological Society of America and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

His research focuses on physical activity and well-being across the lifespan and the relationships among physical activity, social cognitive factors, function, disability, and quality of life.
