11/12/2019

Sharon Feldman, associate director of global health policy research initiatives in IHRP’s Health Policy Center, has been awarded the University’s Award of Merit.

The award recognizes and honors "outstanding Civil Service and Academic Professional employees for exhibiting service, commitment and dedication," according to UIC Human Resources.

Ms. Feldman was nominated by the Institute and selected by a campuswide committee. She will be honored during the UIC Employee Recognition Award Ceremony and Reception, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the UIC Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum at Roosevelt and Halsted.

She began working at the Institute over 20 years ago as a research assistant while she earned her master’s degree in public health. Today she directs grants implementation on the Tobacconomics research team.

In August, Ms. Feldman was named a member of the 2019–20 Academic Professional Leadership Program cohort. The competition-based program prepares and mentors promising 20 mid-career employees each year for transformational leadership roles within the University of Illinois System.

Ms. Feldman is the sixth IHRP employee to receive the Award of Merit since 2006.
