Breast Cancer Delay in Black, Hispanic, and White Women (CPHHD project 3)

Goal

To evaluate the cultural, social, individual and economic contributions to the delay in breast cancer diagnosis.

Abstract

This project aims to:

  • Identify variation in delay patterns across ethnic populations
  • Identify individual, social, and economic contributions to delay
  • Develop an instrument to assess cultural beliefs and cultural orientation on delay
  • Examine the influence of cultural beliefs and cultural orientation on delay
  • Examine the perceived consequences of delay on the timing of health care
  • Develop and pilot-test interventions with community partners and Project 1
