Assessing the Provision of Genetic Services and Factors Affecting Supply and Demand for Service
Abstract
This proposal to the Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Professions will be conducted by the University of Maryland with a subcontract to the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Cooksey directs the the Illinois Center for Health Workforce Studies at UIC, where the subcontract will be carried out. The following work will be conducted through this subcontract:
- Develop a methodology to describe the volume and types of genetic testing conducted in the United States. Through contact with testing laboratories, reports, and other sources, collect the information needed to prepare a report that describes the testing volume.
- Create and maintain a website for the genetic services project.
- Assist with writing the description of the genetic services delivery models in the two selected communities through collecting and synthesizing material on the communities and participating in the site visits and interviews.
- Attend regular monthly teleconference discussions of the project.
- Participate in the project's annual national advisory council meeting.
