Lisa K. Sharp, PhD
Associate Professor of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy
Dr. Lisa Sharp is a clinical health psychologist, an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy, and an IHRP Fellow.
Her primary area of research targets the health of minorities and underserved populations in regards to understanding the direct and indirect effects of stress and depression on chronic illness and cancer, fostering patient participation and communication in the doctor-patient relationship, and ecological, social and psychological influences upon inflammatory processes.
Dr. Sharp is a co-principal investigator of a study funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to improve diabetes management among minorities and co-investigator of other studies to improve the health of cancer patients and survivors.
Targeting minorities and underserved populations, Dr. Sharp's research focuses on understanding the direct and indirect effects of stress and depression on chronic illness and cancer; fostering patient participation and communication in the doctor-patient relationship; and ecological, social, and psychological influences upon inflammatory processes.
